  • Differing Profiles of People Diagnosed with Acute & Chronic Hepatitis B Virus in BC

In this study, we describe the characteristics of individuals diagnosed with acute and chronic HBV infections and identify the factors associated with HBV infection within the BC Hepatitis Testers Cohort (BC-HTC). We are unaware of any study comparing large population level data for both acute and chronic HBV. Study findings should inform prevention and […] Read More

  • Hepatitis C Cascade of Care in BC, 2020

Integration of various data sources enables HCV monitoring across the care cascade to assess program effectiveness. The majority of anti-HCV positive individuals were tested for RNA and genotyping. Very small proportion of HCV infected individuals received treatment. People with HIV coinfection and drug use despite being in liver care were less likely to receive treatment. […] Read More

Assessing Hepatitis C Burden and Treatment Effectiveness through the British Columbia Hepatitis Testers Cohort (BC-HTC): Design and Characteristics of Linked and Unlinked Participants “The British Columbia (BC) Hepatitis Testers Cohort (BC-HTC) was established to assess and monitor hepatitis C (HCV) epidemiology, cost of illness and treatment effectiveness in BC, Canada. In this paper, we describe […] Read More

The British Columbia Hepatitis Testers Cohort (BC-HTC) is a dynamic cohort including all individuals who were tested for hepatitis C or HIV, or diagnosed with, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV or active tuberculosis since 1990. These data are linked with corresponding data on medical visits, hospitalizations, cancers, prescription drugs, and death records. Various datasets in the BC-HTC data are updated on 6 months to biannual basis.

The overall purpose of the BC-HTC is to monitor disease burden related to hepatitis and associated infections and social conditions, evaluate impact of interventions, and monitor hepatitis program progress to inform policy and programming in British Columbia and Canada.
